A few weeks ago I blogged about making a cute outfit for my nephew who was born 4 days after the Baby. I subscribe to Make-it-Love-it and that is where I got the idea for that outfit.
The tutorial I followed was actually for a baby blanket and hat combo. I just chose to do the hat and made the rest up as I went. But this time I did exactly what her tutorial suggested. I even found fabric like hers.
I have to say that I love interlocking knit fabric. Basically it is t-shirt material. Very stretchy and you can make almost anything from it. It can be hard to find in fabric stores but there is tons of it on Etsy and very very cute too!
My dear friend was pregnant with her first very anticipated and dreamed of baby girl last summer. So I decided to whip something adorable up for her equally adorable little girl to be. I made it all up, wrapped and sent it out… then remembered that I didn’t take any pictures of it! Bummer.
Fast forward 6 months and I have pictures to share! Her friend, a photographer, took some beautiful shots for her and my little hat set was part of the fun! The photographer is Sonja Hunt.

Obviously the hat is a little small now, but lucky them, I have more material and I will make her another one! I used a hot pink knit and a black and white damask knit. Here is the link to the tutorial for the hat and blanket set.
I really love all her tutorials. Her sewing out does mine to Mars and back, but I try. I have made a couple of her things, my fav being the penguin Halloween costume!
Here is my attempt:

Incase you can’t figure it out: They are the gang from Toy Story. Woody, Jessie, Barbie and Wheezy the Penguin. Remind me sometime to tell you about the time I made Sassy Pant’s cowgirl Jessie pants up there in about .6 seconds. It was a little nuts. But they were awesome! Oh- and I made Number 1′s Barbie rainbow striped leg warmers, (you can’t see them here) out of an old sweater I just happened to find. They were awesome too.
I hope this inspires you to try. It doesn’t have to be perfect. I mean REALLY- look at the poor sick penguin, his eye is practically falling off. And that red bow tie? It’s really just a little girl’s fancy barrette! See, you can do it too. No one REALLY sees all the crappy parts. Just you.
